Story

Our fondue story begins long before Schuler Provisions, in 1950's Germany. While my grandfather was busy serving as a tank battalion commander during the Cold War, my grandmother was busy forming a friendship that would shape our family for generations. She met a wife of a Swiss officer staying on the same base as them who graciously shared her family's cheese fondue recipe — a simple exchange between two women far from home rooted in hospitality, community, and a love of shared meals.

That recipe was so good that it came back with my grandparents to the United States and became our Christmas dinner tradition. Year after year, through changing homes, growing families, and countless holiday gatherings, the fondue pot has always taken its place at the center of the table. What starts with the promise of a peaceful evening never quite stays that way. As the cheese level drops and the pot begins to form the coveted golden "burnies", the night turns competitive. Forks hover. Cheese flies. Elbows are thrown by people you thought you could trust. It’s part of the ritual, and part of the reason the meal is remembered long after the table is cleared and the trail of cheese leading to grandpa's seat is cleaned up.

Schuler Provisions exists to share that experience with others by providing a meal meant to slow people down, bring them together, and create moments worth arguing over in the best possible way. This isn’t just fondue. It’s tradition.
